About the Role
As a Supplements Specialist, you will take full ownership of the research process for new dietary supplement products. This includes:
- Identifying high-demand, low-competition supplement opportunities.
- Analyzing market data, reviews, and keyword trends.
- Suggesting unique differentiators in formulation, packaging, or bundling.
- Preparing structured reports that guide sourcing and product development.
- Ensuring all recommendations align with compliance and FDA guidelines.
This role is best suited for professionals who are detail-oriented, data-driven, and confident working independently in a structured research environment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Discovery & Validation
- Use Helium 10 and Data Dive to spot profitable supplement opportunities.
- Analyze demand, reviews, keyword search volume, seasonality, and price tiers.
- Study competitor formulations, dosage strengths, and certifications.
- Identify customer pain points and unmet needs in the health supplements category.
Differentiation & Development
- Suggest 2–3 unique differentiators for each product idea (formulation tweaks, bundling, packaging improvements).
- Create detailed product requirement documents with ingredients, dosage, and compliance standards.
- Work with sourcing teams to confirm supplier capabilities (FDA-registered, GMP-certified facilities).
Reporting & Ownership
- Prepare clear research reports with profitability snapshots and Go/No-Go recommendations.
- Maintain progress using ClickUp or Google Sheets.
- Ensure that every step is properly documented and aligned with the company’s SOPs.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 2+ years in product research or private label development (supplements preferred).
- Proficiency in Helium 10, Data Dive, Cerebro, and keyword research.
- Strong skills in Google Sheets (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, profitability analysis).
- Excellent written communication and documentation habits.
- Familiarity with ClickUp, Notion, or similar task management tools.
- Comfortable using AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) for productivity.
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of FDA, DSHEA, and FTC supplement regulations.
- Experience working with sourcing teams or U.S.-based manufacturers.
- Awareness of packaging, bundling, and differentiation strategies.
- Ability to interpret supplement-specific reports and analytics.
