Key Responsibilities

Your role will combine administration, logistics, and leadership. You’ll act as the essential link between the Cadet Headquarters and Detachment teams.

Core Duties Include:

  • Managing cadet detachment properties and facilities across Sussex.
  • Conducting building and equipment inspections, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Handling correspondence, filing, and document management for each area.
  • Issuing and maintaining uniforms, equipment, and training materials.
  • Overseeing secure weapon and ammunition control in line with MOD (Ministry of Defence) safety policies.
  • Assisting with cadet training logistics — including transport, accommodation, and site bookings.
  • Supporting detachment commanders with administrative and safety compliance.
  • Preparing and updating SHEF (Safety, Health, Environment & Fire) policy documentation.
  • Conducting risk assessments, fire drills, and maintaining first-aid compliance.
  • Keeping digital records up to date using the Westminster System (the MOD’s official database).

Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (role requires travel between detachments).
  • Basic knowledge of store accounting and logistical management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • Previous Armed Forces experience, ideally as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO).
  • Familiarity with cadet or youth organizations.
  • Understanding of MOD or RFCA operations.
